"A delightful mix of the familiar and the strange."
"A rewarding foray into the eccentric side of storytelling. Each story is fronted by distinct yet consistently neurotic narrators, and the vivid prose is grittily detailed, showcasing a talented pen gleefully fluctuating from satirical and clever to sinister and chilling. Taking subtle and profound jabs at social ills, this strange collection is in turns meaningful and perplexing, but always original."
The Independent Review of Books
Some believe that extraordinary things can only arise from the ordinary.
Whether it be the strange tale of a man cursed by a cat, or the sinister story of a fraudsters' attempt to con an old lady. It might be the bizarre fable of a mischievous plumbing system or the foreboding account of a late-night reunion in a traditional English pub. Perhaps even the saga of a dinner party from hell.
Whichever it may be, one thing remains certain.
That nothing is ever certain.
Someone walked into the lounge. It was a girl around 12 years old with long blonde hair held back with a black hair band. She flitted about in her knee-length blue dress, white tights, and white apron, continually leaning over as if looking for something, her black buckled shoes clicking as she moved. She observed us sitting on the sofa looking at her, but it didn’t seem to affect her intense concentration. After looking left and right, she leaned forward and spoke.
“I don’t want to appear rude or inconvenient, but I fear that I simply must. Is it at all possible that you may have seen a large white rabbit here or here about? Wearing a waistcoat and a pocket watch?”
